Introduction
What is “Organized Play”?
KeyForge Organized Play is your portal to the Crucible and the larger, worldwide KeyForge community.
Whether you are new to the game or have already battled a thousand Brobnars, Organized Play events are chances for you to meet other players, enjoy more games of KeyForge, and compete for exclusive prizes.
It’s Easy to Get Started
The first step is to get your hands on a KeyForge deck! Once you pick up your deck, you can register it in My Decks, and you’ll be all set to find and join an Organized Play event near you!
Ages of KeyForge
Formats & Variants
There are currently two different formats in KeyForge Organized Play.
Archon
You select the deck or decks to use at the event.
Sealed
You open a new deck, or multiple new decks, for use at the event.
Adaptive
Archon. Sealed.
Players each bring one deck and play best-of-three matches. For the first game, players use their own decks. For the second game, players swap decks and use their opponent’s. If there is a third game, players bid chains to use the deck which won both of the previous games.
Auction
Sealed.
After players open and register their decks, the decks are placed on a table. Players bid chains for the right to play with the deck of their choice. At the end of the event, decks are returned to the players who purchased and opened them.
Reversal
Archon.
Players each bring one deck to the event (typically one they feel is easy to defeat) and swap it with their opponent’s deck at the beginning of each round. Decks are returned to their owners at the end of each round.
Survival
Archon. Sealed.
Players each enter the event with 2 or 3 decks (as determined by the organizer) and rank their decks before the first round. Each player starts the event with their 1st ranked deck. Whenever a deck loses, that deck is “out” and can no longer be used. When a player no longer has decks remaining, that player is eliminated from the event.
Triad
Archon. Sealed.
At a triad event, players each bring 3 decks and play best-of-three matches each round. At the beginning of the round, players each choose one of their opponent’s decks to “bench,” making the deck unusable for that match.
